THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST AND SETS IN THE WEST
The Sun paths clearly highlights that the south side of the site gets more sunlight than the North side. By Orientating the building according to the sun I will be maximising daylighting through the buildings façade. reducing the need for artificial lighting. Design for orientation is a fundamental step to ensure that buildings work with the passage of the sun across the sky. Knowing the sun path is fundamental in designing building facades to let in light and passive solar gain, as well as reducing glare and overheating to the building interior. 1:1000The site is a gap site, located in Digbeth adjacent to Moor Street Station. Birmingham Moor Street is one of three main railway stations in the city centre of Birmingham, along with Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Snow Hill. Moor Street has become more important in recent years, as it is now the terminus of many Chiltern Railways services from London Marylebone. It is the second busiest railway station in Birmingham. Moor Street StationThe site is also located near the Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre. The Bull Ring is a major commercial area of Birmingham. 1:5001:200Analysing a site is a preliminary phase of architectural design. In order for me to design the ideal working space I must analyse the location that I will be designing on.
